Q. How can a baby or young child have any sins?
A. When we think of a baby we immediately think that they cannot have any sins which we are correct in thinking. As explained above, when referring to the original sin we are talking about the sin of Adam and Eve when they ate the forbidden fruit. Through baptism this sin is cleansed .
Q. Should the baby/child come already dressed in white?
A. No, as it isn't until they have been baptised that they have been cleansed of their sins. White represents innocence and purity.
Q. Can an older child or adult be baptised or is it only for a baby?
A. A person of any age may be baptised as long as they have not been previously baptised. The ceremony of an adult baptism is very similar to that of an infant ceremony. Just like God parents, the sponsor's role is to still encourage the adult in the Catholic faith.

Q. Can I only have two Godparents?
A. No. You can have as many as you like, keeping in mind that they must all be over 16 years of age at least one and to be Catholic.
Q. Do the Godparents have to be married?
A. No they do not.
